Dr. Jennifer Bernstein grew up in the west suburbs of Chicago, where she was a competitive figure skater with the International Skating Corporation and a member of the DuPage Figure Skating Club. During her intensive training program, she struggled with multiple injuries, which ultimately forced her to stop skating and pursue other goals and aspirations.
Dr. Bernstein attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. It was during her time at UIC that she discovered how the field of podiatry could be a great way to stay connected to the figure skating world, by treating injured athletes. After graduating from UIC in 2009, Dr. Bernstein was accepted into the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago. After graduating from podiatry school in 2013, Dr. Bernstein went on to spend three years in Louisville, Kentucky, at the University of Louisville and Jewish hospitals, where she completed her podiatric medicine & surgery residency. Her residency included advanced training in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery.
As the newest associate podiatrist at the Weil Foot & Ankle Institute, Dr. Bernstein is happy to be back home in the Chicagoland area. She enjoys treating all aspects of foot and ankle pathology in patients of all ages.
During her free time, Dr. Bernstein enjoys watching the Food Network, cooking, and trying new restaurants.
