Sports Medicine Specialist
Dr. David O’Brian has been in private practice since 1981. He is well known as a specialist in sports medicine, particularly in the area of running injuries, an interest that began as a cross country runner in high school. Dr. O’Brian also specializes in foot and ankle surgery. He has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and a consultant to many of the cross country, track, and dance programs in the Chicago area.
Dr. O’Brian received his Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. He completed his residency in foot and ankle surgery at Northlake Community Hospital in Northlake Illinois. Dr. O’Brian is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery and American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.
Dr. O’Brian is married with two daughters and one grandson. He is a self-described history geek with a particular interest in American history. He enjoys getting together with his family for old movies, cooking, and baseball games whenever tickets are available.
